Why Microchip?
You may think that your pet is protected from getting lost. . . BUT accidents happen, and some things - like tornados, hurricanes, and other natural disasters - are out of our control.  In fact, one in three pets will become lost during their lifetime!!!  According to the American Humane Association, only about 17% of lost dogs and 2% of lost cats ever find their way back to their original owners!  Almost 4 million pets are euthanized every year because their owners can't be found in time. . . If an animal shelter cannot determine a pet's owner or medical history, the pet may be euthanized in as few as 3 days!   To help give your pet the best chance of being identified in the event that it is lost, have your pet microchipped  ASAP before it is too late!
Microchipping your pet may save its life!!!

More pets die from not being identified than from all infectious diseases combined!!!
Every two seconds, a family pet is lost!!
Tragically, most never make it back home because their owners didn't identify them.  Identification of your pet is vital!  If your pet is microchipped, it cannot leave home without its identification.  If your pet is found by a animal shelter or is taken to a veterinary clinic, it is scanned with a device that can identify the microchip number of your pet.  You will then be contacted and reunited with your beloved pet.

What is the Avid FriendChip microchip?
Developed by a veterinarian, the AVID FriendChip is a tiny microchip that contains a personal, one-of-a-kind identification number that distinguishes your pet as a special member of your family.  It is so tiny that it fits through a hypodermic needle.  Just like a vaccination, it is injected under the skin of your pet where it remains safely for life; it provides real protection that cannot fade of fall off of your pet.

When can I get my pet microchipped?
The microchipping procedure does not require anesthesia or sedation to implant.  For convenience,  we usually implant puppies and kittens during their spay or neuter procedure, but it may be done at any time.

Does microchipping hurt my pet?
The injection creates only a slight discomfort - most pets don't even react to it.

How much does the microchip cost?
Microchipping your pet is very inexpensive.  At the veterinary hospital, your pet is microchipped for a very low fee.  You must then register your pet's microchip number for lifetime registration into the PETtrac global recovery network.  Your pet then benefits from a safety-net of protection for the rest of its life.

Imagine being notified that your pet is found!!!  By microchipping your pet and enrolling it in PETtrac, you provide your pet with the most comprehensive and sophisticated safety-net of protection available.  When your lost pet is found, you or your designated alternate will be contacted.  Your pet will be reunited directly with you, his family.  Now you can enjoy real peace of mind.  Dedicated recovery specialists answer toll free calls (800-336-AVID) every minute of the day, every day of the year.
